Mum and I went to the Benefit Boutique in Farnham Surrey on Saturday 6th March for the makeover / makeup lesson that had been arranged due to my recent complaint about an experience I had at a counter.
I'm not going to go into details about the complaint here. I did a post on it which I am sure most of you will have seen. If by any chance you haven't seen it you can click here. Now it's a case of been there done that, time to move on.
I have also already posted an update telling you what was going to be done about the complaint, you can read that here. This post is basically going to give you all a run through of the day.
We had a 45 minute appointment booked for 11am. I think the 45 minutes was a guideline, I am sure we were there for at least an hour. This was great because we were able to relax and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
We were actually told that one of the ladies would ring us a day or 2 before to confirm the appointment. This didn't end up happening but that wasn't the end of the world.
When we arrived we were greeted by lots of smiley faces, (this was an encouraging start after our experience at the counter).
The Lady I had (Jess) was very chatty which made me feel really comfortable. I told her about my blog and she said she would take a look. So if your reading this Hi Jess I'm sure I'll see you again one day as I will definitely be coming back to Benefit :).
I sat down with Jess and we discussed what it was I wanted done and before she did anything she asked all the relevent questions about the look I wanted, e.g. foundation coverage, colours of eyeshadows etc.
At the end Jess spoke to me about some of the products I was interested in.
I did end up buying a lot of the products that were used. The things I didn't buy I had either bought previously e.g. SugarBomb box powder, or I had samples in kits e.g. Lemonade eye primer in the Realness of Concealness kit. I was also given a sample of 'Some kinda Gorgeous Foundation Faker' which was used. I got a bit confused and I thought I had purchased this product, so I was so glad to find I had a sample.
Jess used Erase Paste on my undereye area which i really liked, but as I have concealers that I think I ought to use before buying new ones I decided to leave this product for the time being. I will go through everything else used in a seperate post.
I had decided I wanted a Pin-up style look, so Neutral eyeshadow, Bold eyeliner, Red lips and contoured Cheeks. I was very pleased with the end result. I will post a photo or 2 at the end of this post.
We were told that we would not be able to take photos in the shop. So we had come to terms with doing it outside the shop afterwards. However when i mentioned to mum 'not to forget to take photos' the lady that did Mum's makeup offered to photograph the two of us together in the shop.
Mum enjoyed it a lot more than she thought she would which was really good... She isn't really one for wearing a lot of makeup so she was a bit worried about how she would look at the end, but she was really pleased with the result.
Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know about about the day. Feel free to leave questions in the comments.
